SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the shared global agenda set by the United Nations for 2030. This section introduces how the National Chung Cheng University College of Management and ASIRC respond to the SDGs through sustainable investment, which goals the Center focuses on, and how these goals are put into practice through research and real-world engagement.

What Are the SDGs?

In 2015, all 193 Member States of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets spanning three dimensions: economic, social and environmental. These dimensions are closely interconnected and equally essential, encouraging governments, businesses and individuals alike to balance economic development, social well-being and environmental protection in their decisions.

The College of Management and the SDGs

Achieving these goals depends on how capital is allocated. How companies treat their employees, use resources and invest in innovation all shape investors' judgments and decisions. As more investors integrate ESG factors into their choices, companies gain stronger incentives to transition toward sustainability.

Guided by the emphasis that AACSB International accreditation places on societal impact, the National Chung Cheng University College of Management co-founded ASIRC with Amundi in 2021, bringing international sustainable investment practice to campus.

Sustainable investment is the bridge that carries the SDGs from ideals into the market. ASIRC advances this work through talent development, academic research and industry engagement.

Talent Development

Scholarships and internship programs encourage students to gain hands-on exposure to asset management before graduation.

Academic Research

Supporting research on sustainable investment and corporate governance to build local research capacity.

Industry Engagement

Case competitions and practitioner talks connect the campus with sustainability practice in industry.

The College's Three Priority SDGs

The College of Management has identified SDG 3, SDG 8 and SDG 9 as its three priority goals. Drawing on its expertise in sustainable investment, ASIRC primarily supports SDG 8 and SDG 9.
